Lindsay Lohan in Tears as she is Jailed For 90 Days


LINDSAY LOHAN wept as she was sentenced to 90 days in jail last night.

The Mean Girls star, 24, violated her probation for a 2007 drink-driving charge by repeatedly missing alcohol education classes.

She insisted she did not realise she was breaking the order and that her work schedule had stopped her attending regularly.

Lohan told Beverly Hills Supreme Court Judge Marsha Revel: "I'm not taking this as a joke. It's my life and my career, something I have worked for my entire life.

"I have tried to do the best I can. I really did think I was doing what I was supposed to do, and I mean it with all my heart."

Lohan had been ordered to give up booze after missing a court date in May.

Judge Revel said: "I couldn't have been more clear, and it wasn't done. It is like someone who doesn't think it's cheating unless she gets caught."

Lohan was required to wear an alcohol monitoring unit on her ankle. But it gave off an alert at an MTV awards party in June.

Lawyers for the star said the unit, which senses alcohol on the skin, was faulty after someone fiddled with it. Lohan will start her sentence on July 20.
